Booming urban areas, megacities and globalization: by 2050 in Europe more than 75 percent, in the USA almost 90 percent of the total population are expected to live in cities.

In this context, BMW has developed a concept for the future mobility in urban areas.

The futuristic car is expected to be on the market in the next 20 to 30 years.

Vehicle adapted to the driver

The new supercar is a combination of a sportcoupé and an elegant limousine which is more than just a means of transport, but a personalized vehicle, adapted to driver’s needs.

Choose between ease- and boost mode

The vehicle has two different driving modes. In ease-mode the driver can relax and will be driven by ‘autopilot’.

The digital assistant will make you a better driver

In boost-mode the car is focused on the driver and supports him while driving by showing the racing line, corner entry and optimal speed, making him an ultimate driver.

Due to the sensory and digital intelligence the vehicle gets to know the driver better and better. The car of the future will become an indispensable digital assistant.

The car gives indications to pedestrians by light signals

Additionally, BMW Vision Next 100 has an important improvement for safety of passengers and other road users.

E.g. in traffic situations the car gives a signal to pedestrians through the green light in the front of the car an indication in which direction they can safely cross the road.

From cockpit to a lounge

Depending on the selected mode the interior of the car will change. In ease-mode the steering wheel and centre console move back, the headrests swing aside, seats and door panel form one unit, so the driver and passengers can turn to each other. During steering the car supports the driver in boost-mode.

The car also has covered wheels to ensure it a minimum drag and energy saving. Massive folding doors make on- and off-boarding much easier.

Technologies change our perception of usual things and automobiles are no exception. Cars of the future are predicted to be safer, more energy-saving, comfortable and autonomous.
