Problem Background
Web Shop is an e-commerce product that was developed by Qulix Systems for Su Soft Internet e-business. SU Soft company focuses on providing of retail solutions for chain and/or stand-alone shops. Qulix Systems developers helped to develop one of the best e-business solutions on the market. The main goal of the product is to promote a business on the Internet and offer customers and vendors the opportunity to shop at an Internet store 24/7 and 365 days a year having just a PC at hand. E-business solutions, developed by Qulix Systems and SU Soft, are quick, elegant and presented in several versions that fit for most businesses.
Solution Overview
WebShop is a classical client-server application 'Electronic Shop' developed using JSP, STRUTS, Servlets, Apache, TomCat, and MySQL database.
The purchase making procedure in the system is designed to be as simple as possible. The user chooses products and puts them into a cart after which a standard check-out process goes on. Also upon the client's request a Super User role is envisaged into the system which means that Super User can order goods on behalf of a User who may not be able to do that by himself in some cases. In this case User can make a phone call and order goods needed. Super User assists in making a purchase: he is not logging into the system with User's login but utilizes his Super User account.
There is a Social Security Number verification procedure in order to purchase a product which means SSN has to be verified by a third party services. It is sent to such service using protected SSL mode via web-services and credit status of its owner is checked out afterwards. After verification process is completed successfully the goods can be bought and delivered to the customer.
The product was developed in three versions, namely Web Shop Retail, Web Shop Standard and Web Shop Professional. Web Shop Retail is designed for the shops that need to hold marketing campaigns and special deals in an effective and cost effective way. Web Shop Standard is oriented on businesses that present their total product range on the Internet and handles both B2C and B2B. Web Shop Professional is meant for businesses that wish to have a 100% ERP integrated solution. It can be integrated directly to an existing ERP solution which results in a very functional and effective internet solution without having to change the current stock system or ERP.
