Case-Study: Financial Services

Client

The client is a large US financial company.

Problem

The client has a J2EE-based application with lots of screens, flows, and PL/SQL, which processes given information and communicates it to Product Database. After messages are written into database, certain calculations have to be run (called secondary posting processes), and then a different kind of message has to be sent out to create actual financial product. Financial product is delivered to customers based on their subscription preferences, including whether they want everything or a subset, and in XML or "flat" format. The task was to reengineer existing secondary posting processes schemes and generation of financial products for customers, using more up-to-date technologies.

Solution

Qulix worked with the client to help them realize their business vision. We provided maintenance and enhancement services for the client's existing applications. In consultation with the client Qulix made significant contributions to:

  • Reengineering and development of software products,
  • Development and maintenance of several components of the client's product suite,
  • Development of viewers for specific applications.

The full testing was accomplished to see whether the implementation meets the specified requirements and verify accuracy of data, interfaces, and connectivity.

The system is proving to be the cost saving and effective solution for the client. Offshore model enabled saving as much as 65% over previously employed domestic outsourcing companies for similar job.
