Case-Study: Centralized Network Patches Management

Customer

The customer is a large US software development company which specializes in development of corporate network management solutions.

Engagement

The customer never had an outsourcing experience before, so it was very complex decision to go this way to decrease total costs. Qulix was awarded as an outsourcing partner for pilot project of 4 months duration.

The engagement primarily involved:

  • To establish communication processes between Qulix and the customer for future projects.
  • To create software solution for centralized network patches management using framework developed by the customer.

Solution

Project team size was 5 people including 1 team leader, who was point-of-contact for project related technical questions. Moreover, there was dedicated 1 top-level QA manager for the purpose of establishment of efficient interaction processes between sites (he spent first month of project execution on the site of the customer, in USA).

.NET platform was used to implement patches management system. Architecturally, it was a central unit with a set of distributed on the network agents, which provided status information about PCs and servers.

Result

The project was completed in 3 months instead of 4 without compromising the quality of software released, saving up to 70% of initial project cost by outsourcing it to Qulix. Required processes were established and currently Qulix executes more complex and large project for the customer.
